The new Men’s and women’s kickboxing schedule is in effect starting
February 1, 2007. Pick up a copy of the new schedule in the lobby. If you get a
friend to sign up you will receive $50 worth of merchandise. They must
mention your name at the time of sign up.

Monday January 22, 2007- Master Tom Campbell appeared on the Discovery

Friday January 26, 2007- Alex and Mia P., Nick D., Kayla and Ryan Q., Alaina
M., Caitlyn and Meghan S., Lauren Z., Melissa B., and Caelyn G. took part in
a demonstration at West Gates school to help other children see the fun and
excitement of taking part in the martial arts. Everyone did there best and
made an exceptional performance.
Saturday January 27, 2007- Derrick Strong and Keith Peterson, both
competed in MMA fights inside the cage. Derrick’s opponent, who was a very
experienced grappler came out and took Derrick down the first 2 rounds. But
he did nothing to advance position or strike, while Derrick tried to change
positions and submissions. Derrick came out the third round keeping the fight
standing up, and won a very clear round, hurting his opponent with your strikes
and almost putting him in the triangle choke. Derrick lost 29 -28.
Keith, was dominating his fight both rounds, with his leg kicks, spinning
backfist, and crazy slams. Even though it was Keith’s first fight, it look as
though he had a few fights under his belt. But after Keith did one of his big
slams, his opponent caught him in a triangle choke, even though he was hurt
from that last slam. You'll get’em next time!
New Ranks in January- Adult class-Sean Caldwell, Ken Myler, and Gary
Quenzer earned their yellow belts. Juniors class- Samta & Aman Abrole
earned their yellow belts. Pee Wee class-Chole Yagy earned yellow and
David Amelemah earned his orange belt. Congratulations to all! Keep up the
good work!!!
Women’s Kickboxing- Kirsten Guerin and Debbie Strauss hold the record for
most kicks in 2 minutes . Kirsten got 210 and Debbie got 206. GREAT JOB!!!

Upcoming events:
February 9, 2007 - Bobby “Jackhammer” Campbell fights at Suffolk
community college. Tickets are $60 & $100. The main event is Derric Rossy
vs. Eddie Chambers for the USBA World heavyweight title. The show will be
aired live on ESPN 2. As of right now Bobby’s fight is not scheduled to be
aired. But if the main event ends early, they can air his fight.
February 23, 2007- Robert Peppers defends his New York state title. Derrick
Strong fights for the state title is his weight class. Also on the show will be
Tyson Jones, Keith Peterson and Mike Giordano. Tickets are $20 and will be
held at Corleone’s kickboxing gym in garden city
